Slip As If To Knit
Insert the right hand needle into the first stitch on the left hand needle just as if you were going to knit it. Slip the stitch without knitting to the right hand needle.
Sometimes a pattern will instruct you to slip knitwise instead of slip as if to knit. If a pattern does not specify if you are to slip as if to knit or purl, assume you are to slip as if to purl.
