Bitty Baby Bear Outfit

Janice Helge

Bitty Baby Bear Knitting Pattern

Materials:
Size 2 (US) needles
DK (or Sport) Weight yarn (I used Sirdar Snuggly Chatterbox)

Gauge:
7 sts = 1" in ribbing

Booties

Cast on 16 sts.
Do 9 rows of K1, P1 ribbing.
Bind off.
Sew bottom and back seams.

Hat

Cast on 22 sts.
K1, P1 ribbing for 1".
Next row: K2, *K2 tog, K2, repeat from * across row.
Purl 1 row.
Next row: K2 tog across row, end with K1.
Next row: P2 tog across row, end with P1.

Cut yarn, pull end through stitches remaining on needle and secure. Sew back seam. Make a small pom pom for the top of the hat.

Poncho

Make 2 pieces.
Cast on 18 sts.
K 10 rows.
Bind off.

Sew the end of the first piece to the side edge of the second so that the short end and long side form a continuous edge. Take the end of the second piece and sew it to the side edge of the first piece. The point of the end piece will form the point at the front and back of the poncho. Difficult to describe but easy to do! (See the American Girl Poncho Pattern for a photograph.)

See Abbreviations and the Glossary for help.
