Four Cable Hat Knitting Pattern

This knit hat fits men and women. The pattern features four easy to knit cables and a fold up brim. It's knit on two needles.

Gauge:
14 sts and 18 rows=4" in St st

Materials:
Size 11 (8 mm) straight needles or size needed to obtain gauge
Puffin by Crystal Palace Yarns
2 balls Color #0205 Pinto Pony
100% polyester fleece
50 grams/1.75 ounces
84 yards/77 meters

Instructions
CO 74 sts.
Work in k1, p1 ribbing 4" as follows:
*k1, p1; rep from *
Rep this row.

Work in Cable Pattern 6 more inches (end with RS completed):
Row 1 (WS): p11, (k2, p4, k2, p10) 3 times, k2, p4, k2, p1
Row 2: k1, (p2, k4, p2, k10) 4 times, k1
Row 3: Rep Row 1
Row 4: k1, (p2, sl2 to cable needle and hold in front, k2, k2 from cable needle, p2, k10, p2, sl2 to cable needle and hold in back, k2, k2 from cable needle, p2, k10) 2 times, k1

Rep Rows 1-4.

Crown Decreases
Row 1: p1, *p4, p2tog, (p4, k2tog) twice; rep from *, end p1 - 62 sts
Row 2: k1, *k3, k2tog; rep from *, end k1 - 50 sts
Row 3: p1, *p2tog, p2; rep from *, end p1 - 38 sts
Row 4: k1, *k1, k2tog; rep from *, end k1 - 26 sts
Row 5: p1, *p2tog; rep from *, end p1 - 14 sts Row 6: k2tog across - 7 sts

Cut yarn leaving a long tail for seaming. Thread yarn through tapestry needle and slip through sts on needle. Pull tightly to close top of hat.

Finishing
Sew seam, reversing side that is seamed for brim when folded over in half. Weave in ends on WS.
