Hanukkah And Christmas Coasters Knitting And Crochet Patterns Easy to knit and crochet coasters for Hanukkah and Christmas. One ball of the crochet Hanukkah coasters will make 4 coasters and one ball of the knit Christmas verion will also make 4 coasters, excluding whip stitch edge.

Knit Version
Size:
4" x 4" square

Gauge:
12 sts = 4" in St st with two strands together

Materials:
Size 8 US (5 mm) needles
Cotton Chenille by Crystal Palace Yarns
1 ball MC plus some CC for whip stitch edge if desired (shown in #1015 Natural and #4021 Red Velvet)
100% combed Cotton
98 yards/50 grams

Instructions
Note: It is best to CO and BO using a needle that is 2-3 sizes larger than your working needles. In this case, a US size 10½ would work well.

With MC doubled, CO 12 sts. Knit each row (garter st) until piece measures 4". BO loosely. Weave in ends.

Optional Whip Stitch Edge
If desired, work whip st around edge in CC. Weave in ends.

Instructions
Rnd 1: Ch 4, work 12 dc in 1st ch st to form a ring. Join at the end of rnd with sl st.
Rnd 2: Ch 3 (this counts as one dc), work another dc in 1st st, *work 2 dc in next dc; rep from * to end of rnd, join with sl st. [24 sts]
Rnd 3: Ch 3 (this counts as one dc), work 2 dc in next dc, *work dc in next dc, then work 2 dc in next dc; rep from * to end of rnd, join with sl st. [36 sts]
Rnd 4: Ch 3 (this counts as one dc), work dc in next dc, work 2 dc in next dc, *work dc each in next 2 dc, work 2 dc in next dc; rep from * to end of rnd, join with sl st. [48 sts]

Fasten off and weave in ends. Block lightly if necessary.
