Sock Christmas Ornament Knitting Pattern

Sock Christmas Ornament Knitting Pattern One ball will make three ornaments. This is a real sock, knit on double points, and makes a wonderful Christmas ornament or package decoration.

Size:
Approx 5½" in circumference and 5" long

Gauge:
7½ sts=1" in St st

Materials:
Size 2 US (2.75 mm) double pointed needles
Mini-Mochi by Crystal Palace Yarns
1 ball 105 Tapestry Rainbow
80% Merino Wool/20% Nylon
195 yards/50 grams

Wrap & Turn (w&t)
This technique is used to prevent holes when working short rows.
When you go back to work on these wrapped sts later, you will knit the st and the wrap(s) together.
On RS, bring yarn to front, sl1, bring yarn to back, sl st back to left needle, turn.
On WS, bing yarn to back, sl1, bring yarn to front, sl st back to left needle, turn.

Instructions
The top cuff is worked in k1 x p1, alternating between the yarn end from the inside of the ball and the outside of the ball. The end from the inside of the ball is the MC and the end from the outside of the ball is the CC.

With CC, CO 50 sts. Work the following rib back and forth on 2 dpn's:
Row 1 (RS): With MC, (k1, sl1 wyib) to end of row. Starting back at beg of row with CC, (sl1 wyib, p1) to end of row.
Row 2 (WS): With MC, (sl1 wyif, p1) to end of row. Starting back at beg of row with CC, (k1, sl1 wyif) to end of row.
Work this rib for 1", ending with a Row 1 (RS row).

Begin Leg
Divide sts on 4 dpn's. Using MC only, join and begin working in the rnd.
Rnd 1: Ssk, (k4, k2tog) 7x, k2, k2tog, ssk. [40 sts] Make sure you have 10 sts on each dpn. Continue to work even in MC, knitting all rnds in St st until piece measures 3" from cast-on edge. K30 sts of next rnd.

Begin Heel
Heel will be worked back and forth over the last 10 sts and the first 10 sts.
Row 1 (RS): K19, w&t.
Row 2 (WS): P18, w&t.
Row 3: K17, w&t.
Row 4: P16, w&t.
Row 5: K15, w&t.
Row 6: P14, w&t.
Row 7: K13, w&t.
Row 8: P12, w&t.
Row 9: K11, w&t.
Row 10: P10, w&t.
Row 11: K10, k wrap and next st tog, w&t.
Row 12: P11, p wrap and next st tog, w&t.
Row 13: K12, k wraps and next st tog, w&t.
Row 14: P13, p wraps and next st tog, w&t.
Row 15: K14, k wraps and next st tog, w&t.
Row 16: P15, p wraps and next st tog, w&t.
Row 17: K16, k wraps and next st tog, w&t.
Row 18: P17, p wraps and next st tog, w&t.
Row 19: K18, k wraps and next st tog, k20 from other 2 dpn's, k10 from last dpn, making sure to knit wraps on rem wrapped st.

Foot
Change back to working in the rnd over all sts. Knit 12 rnds.
Begin Toe Decrease
Dec Rnd: K7, k2tog, k2, ssk, k14, k2tog, k2, ssk, k7. [36 sts]
Knit 2 rnds even.
Dec Rnd: K6, k2tog, k2, ssk, k12, k2tog, k2, ssk, k6. [32 sts]
Knit 1 rnd even.
Dec Rnd: K5, k2tog, k2, ssk, k10, k2tog, k2, ssk, k5. [28 sts]
Knit 1 rnd even.
Dec Rnd: K4, k2tog, k2, ssk, k8, k2tog, k2, ssk, k4. [24 sts]
Knit 1 rnd even.
Dec Rnd: K3, k2tog, k2, ssk, k6, k2tog, k2, ssk, k3. [20 sts]
Dec Rnd: K2, k2tog, k2, ssk, k4, k2tog, k2, ssk, k2. [16 sts]
Dec Rnd: K1, k2tog, k2, ssk, k2, k2tog, k2, ssk, k1. [12 sts]
Dec Rnd: K2tog, k2, ssk, k2tog, k2, ssk. [8 sts]
Sew up rem sts with yarn needle. Sew up rib seam on WS of stocking.

Hanging Loop
Take 2 strands of Mini Mochi, each approx. 8" long. Twist together. Trim as desired. Fold in half and let piece twist on itself. Tie each end. Sew each end to top corner of stocking.
Weave in all ends.
