Child's Socks Knitting Pattern

Size:
Fits children about aged 9

Gauge:
20 sts=4" in St st with larger needles

Materials:
150 grams worsted weight cotton
Size 4 US (3.5 mm) double points - set of 4
Size 5 US (3.75 mm) double points - set of 4
Elastic to knit along with yarn for cuff

Instructions
Cuff
With smaller needles and elastic and yarn held together, CO 40 sts.
Divide over 3 needles (10, 20, 10). Join
Work 25 rnds k2, p2 ribbing.
Heel Flap
Change to larger needles. Cut elastic.
P across. Place sts from needle 3 on needle 1.
Row 1: *K1, Slip 1; rep from *
Row 2: P
Repeat for 12 rows.
Turn Heel
Row 1: Slip 1, K12, K2tog tbl, turn
Row 2: Slip 1, P7, P2tog, turn
Row 3: Slip 1, K8, K2tog tbl.
Continue in this way until there are 8 sts on needle.
Gusset
K across heel sts, pick up 10 sts on left side, K across 20 sts from needle 2, pick up 10 sts on right side.
Rnds 1, 3, 5, and 7:
Needle 1: K to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1, Needle 2: K
Needle 3: K1, K2tog tbl, K to end
Rnds 2, 4, 6: K
Foot
K 27 rnds.
Toe
Rnds 1, 3, 5, 7, 9:
Needle 1: K to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2
Needle 2: K2, K2tog tbl, K to last 4 sts, K2tog, K2
Needle 3: K2, K2tog tbl, K to end
Rounds 2, 4, 6, 8: K
When there are 6 sts on each needle slip each st in turn on another needle, K3 tog, pull 1st st over 2nd to end.

Weave in ends. Wash in cool water, dry in dryer.
