Simple Cowl Knitting Pattern

This is a simple combination stockinette and garter stitch cowl with beautiful results thanks to the bold colors of the yarn.

Size:
14" tall x 26" circumference

Gauge:
24 sts and 32 rows = 4" in St st

Materials:
Size 4 US(3.5 mm) 24" circulars or double points
4 balls Knit Picks Imagination
50% Merino Wool 25% Superfine Alpaca, 25% Nylon
219 yards/50 grams
Color Seven Dwarves

Simple Cowl Knitting Pattern

Instructions
CO 312 sts. Join and mark beg of round.
Work in Garter st (K rnd, P rnd) for 1".
Next rnd: K2tog around: 156 sts.
Begin Ruching Pattern:
Work 1" in St st (K every rnd).
Next round, inc into every st: 312 sts.
Work in St st for 1".
Next round: K2tog around: 156 sts.
Repeat this sequence six more times. This will give the cowl one smaller, flat end and one ruffled end. For two ruffled ends, repeat the ruche sequence to the increase round.
Work 1" in St st, then work 1" in garter st. BO all sts loosely.
Weave in ends, wash, block and enjoy!
