iPod Sock Knitting Pattern

Designed by Barbara Breiter

iPod Sock Knitting Pattern Two versions of this iPod sock case knitting pattern are available...in the round or on straight needles. Add a strap for carrying your iPod. It uses only a small amount of yarn so it's great for using up your stash. iPod socks in the store sell for $29 for 6 so why not knit your own?

Materials:
Size 3 US (3.25 mm) straight needles or size needed to obtain gauge for two needle version
Size 3 US (3.25 mm) double point needles (set of 4) or size needed to obtain gauge for in the round version

Small amount of fingering weight yarn. iPod sock as shown was knit with:
Rowan 4 ply soft
100% Merino wool
50 grams/175 meters/191 yards
Color #378

Gauge:
11 sts=1" in k3, p2 rib

Size:
Fits all iPods except iPod shuffle.

Instructions:

Two Needle Version:
CO 47 sts with straight needles.
Work in pattern stitch as follows:
Row 1 (RS): p1, *k3, p2; rep from *, end k1
Row 2: p1, *k2, p3; rep from *, end k1

Rep Rows 1 and 2 until 4" or longer (measure your iPod to determine length).

BO in pat, leaving long tail. Seam side and bottom. Weave in ends on WS.

In The Round Version:
CO 45 sts with double pointed needles. Divide over 3 needles: 10 sts, 10 sts, 15 sts. Be careful sts are not twisted.
Work in pattern st as follows:
Rnd 1: *k3, p2; rep from * around

Rep Rnd 1 until 4" (measure your iPod to determine length).

BO in pat, leaving long tail. Seam bottom. Weave in ends on WS.

You could also work to desired length, then transfer sts so there are 22 sts on one needle and 23 on the other. Dec 1 st so there are 22 sts on each needle. Then either use the 3 needle bind off or the kitchener stitch to seam bottom.
