Scoodie (Scarf and Hood) Knitting Pattern

This easy scoodie, or combination hood and scarf, pattern is easy and uses a mock cable pattern (so no actual cabling is involved). Plus it knits up fast in super bulky yarn.

The scarf is the same for both children and adults but the adult hood is a little longer to accommodate larger sized heads.

Size:
Fits most children (adults)

Gauge:
9 sts=4" in pat st

Materials:
Size 13 US (9 mm) straight needles or size to obtain gauge
Size 13 US (9 mm) circular needles, 24" or longer
Wool-Ease Thick & Quick by Lion Brand
1 ball color 125 Hazelnut (color A)
1 (2) balls color 136 Apricot (color B)
6 oz./170g

80% Acrylic, 20% Wool

Pattern Stitches:

Seed Stitch
Row 1: *k1, p1; rep from *
Row 2: *p1, k1; rep from *
Rep Rows 1 and 2.

Mock Cable
Row 1: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, p4, k1, p1, k5
Row 2: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, p3, k2, p2, k4
Row 3: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, p2, k2, p1, k1, p2, k3
Row 4: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, p1, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2
Row 5: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, k2, p3, k3, p2, k1
Row 6: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, k1, p4, k4, p1, k1
Rep Rows 1-6.

Scarf
With A and straight needles, CO 12 sts.
Work in Mock Cable 24.5", end with Row 6 completed. Place sts on holder.
Make another but do not put sts on holder.

Hood
With B and circular needles (working back and forth), work Row 1 of Mock Cable. Cable Cast On 32 sts. Work Row 1 of Mock Cable on sts from holder, knitting first st instead of slipping.
Note: Subsequent Row 1 will be: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, p4, k1, p1, k4, k34, p4, k1, p1, k5
Row 2: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, p3, k2, p2, k3, work seed st over next 34 sts, p3, k2, p2, k4
Row 3: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, p2, k2, p1, k1, p2, k2, work seed st over next 34 sts, p2, k2, p1, k1, p2, k3
Row 4: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, p1, k2, p2, k2, p2, k1, seed st over next 34 sts, p1, k2, p2, k2, p2, k2
Note: On subsequent rows, work 34 sts in St st instead of seed st.
Row 5: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, k2, p3, k3, p2, k34, k2, p3, k3, p2, k1
Row 6: WYIF slip 1 as if to p, k1, p4, k4, p1, p34, k1, p4, k4, p1, k1
Rep Rows 1-6 until 10 (12)", ending with Row 6 completed.
Divide sts in half and work 3 needle bind off.
