Fancy Feet Slipper Socks

Knit Slippers

These slipper socks are fun and funky and knit up quickly. Thick wool means they're extra warm.

Photo shows slippers in size M with the following yarns and colors:
MC Iceland color #0022
CC Iceland color #8166
Tingle color #3866

Materials:
-2 balls Crystal Palace Yarns Iceland - 1 each for Main Color (MC) and Contrast Color (CC)
100% Australian Merino Wool
109 yards/100 grams
-One ball Crystal Palace Yarns Splash
100% polyester
85 yards/100 grams
or
-One ball Crystal Palace Yarns Tingle
100% polyester
45 yards/50 grams
Choose colors to coordinate with MC and CC.
-Size 10.5 (US) double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge

Size:
S (M, L)

Gauge:
3.5 sts = 1 inch in St st (14 sts/4 inches) with Iceland

Definitions:
Wrap next st:
RS: slip next st onto working needle, bring yarn to the front, slip st back to other needle, bring yarn to the back
WS: slip next st onto working needle, bring yarn to the back, slip st back to other needle, bring yarn to the front

Knit Slippers

Instructions:

With MC, CO 26 (30, 34) sts. Work k1 x p1 rib (k1, p1; rep across) for 1.25 inches.
Distribute stitches as follows: Slip stitches so first needle has 14 (16, 18) sts. These will be the heel sts. Change to CC and St st and start heel.

Heel:
Row 1: k12 (14, 16), wrap next st, turn.
Row 2: p10 (12, 14), wrap next st, turn.
Row 3: k9 (11, 13), wrap next st, turn.
Row 4: p8 (10, 12), wrap next st, turn.
Row 5: k7 (9, 11), wrap next st, turn.
Row 6: p6 (8, 10), wrap next st, turn.
Row 7: k5 (7, 9), wrap next st, turn.
Row 8: p4 (6, 8), wrap next st, turn.
Row 9: k4 (6, 8), k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 10: p5 (7, 9), k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 11: k6 (8, 10), k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 12: p7 (9, 11), k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 13: k8 (10, 12), k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 14: p9 (11, 13), k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 15: k10 (12, 14), k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 16: p11 (13, 15) k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 17: k12 (14, 16) k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.
Row 18: p13 (15, 17) k next st and wrap tog, wrap next st, turn.

Foot:
Change to MC and continue to work even around in St st until piece measures 2 (2.5, 2.5) inches less than desired length. Change to CC and begin toe:

Toe:
Work one round even in CC. Next work dec rnd.
Dec rnd: [k1, ssk, k8 (10, 12), k2 tog] 2x.
Work 2 rnds even.
Dec rnd: [k1, ssk, k6 (8, 10), k2 tog] 2x.
Work 1 (2, 2) rnds even.
Dec rnd: [k1, ssk, k4 (6, 8), k2 tog] 2x.
Work 1 rnd even.
Dec rnd: [k1, ssk, k2 (4, 6), k2 tog] 2x.
Work 0 (1, 1) rnd even.
Dec rnd: [k1, ssk, k0 (2, 4), k2 tog] 2x.
If working size S, then sew up remaining sts. Continue for M and L.
Dec rnd: k1, ssk, k (0, 2), k2 tog] 2x.
If working size M, then sew up remaining sts. Continue for L.
Dec rnd: [k1, ssk, k (2), k2 tog] 2x.
If working size L, then sew up remaining sts.

Trim:
With Splash or Tingle, pick up and knit 21 (25, 28) sts (not every CO st will be picked up). Work in St st to desired length. BO in k1 x p1 rib to maintain elasticity at ankle.
