An easy diamond pattern highlights this short sleeved pullover sweater knitting pattern.

Finished Chest Measurement=40"

Gauge:
17 sts=4" in Embossed Diamonds with larger needles

Materials:
3 buttons
Size 7 US (4.5 mm) needles
Size 9 US needles (5.5 mm) or size needed to obtain
Coats and Clark Cotton

2.5 ounces/71 grams or appropriate substitution

Back
With smaller needles, CO 70 st.
Work k1, p1 rib 2½".
Inc 13 st evenly over last row - 83 sts.
Change to larger needles and knit Embossed Diamonds stitch pattern for 13" or to desired length.
BO 5 st beg next 2 rows - 73 sts.
Dec 1 st each end every other row 4 times - 65 sts.
Work armhole 8½".
BO 8 st beg next 2 rows, then BO 9 st beg next 2 rows.
Place rem st on holder.

Front
Same as Back until decreases are completed.
Keeping to pat, work 30 st, BO 5 st, place rem 30 sts on holder to be worked later. Work even until armhole measures 7¼".
At neck edge, BO 9 st. Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 3 times.
Work until armhole reaches 8½.
Beg at armhole edge, BO 8 st, work back, BO rem st.
Slip 30 st on holder back on needle and work in same manner.

Sleeves
With smaller needles, CO 46 st.
Work k1, p1 rib 1½".
Inc 7 st evenly over last row - 53 sts.
Change to larger needles and knit Embossed Diamonds stitch pattern for 4" or to desired length.
Cap
BO 5 st beg next 2 rows - 43 sts.
Dec 1 st each end every other row 10 times.
Work even until cap measures 6".
BO 23 st.

Placket and Collar
Seam shoulders.
With smaller needles, pick up stitches along neck openings for the plackets, one for the button band and one for the buttonhole band. Please see Picking Up Stitches For Necklines And Armholes for more information.
Work k1, p1 rib 1½", making three buttonholes (or the number desired) evenly spaced on the left side.
Lap buttonhole band over button band and sew to yoke.
Pick up sts for collar around neck (not around buttonhole and button bands). Work k1, p1 rib 3". BO.

Finishing
Sew in sleeves. Seam sleeves and sides. Sew on buttons. Weave in ends on WS.
