Roll Neck Sleeveless Shell Knitting Pattern

Easy sleeveless shell knitting pattern features a rolled bottom and neck and is a great pattern for beginner and expert knitters alike. Mesh tape is used to knit this project and is light weight but knits up quickly at a big gauge.

Sizes:
Small, Medium, Large
Finished Chest Measurement 36 (40, 44)"

Gauge:
14 sts and 19 rows=4" in St st

Materials:
Size 11 US (8 mm) straight needles or size needed to obtain gauge
16" size 11 US (8 mm)circular needle (if desired)
Size J-10 US (6 mm) crochet hook
Summer Net by Crystal Palace Yarns
45% nylon, 36% polyester, 19% cotton
74 yards/50 grams
8 (8, 9) balls Color #3207-Celery

Instructions

Pattern Stitch
Rows 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 (RS): Knit
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, 10: Purl
Row 12: Knit

Back
CO 64 (70, 78) sts.
Work in pat st 14 (14, 15)". End WS completed.

Armhole Shaping
BO 4 (5, 6) sts beg next 2 rows.
Dec 1 st each end every other row 4 (4, 5) times as follows (48, 52, 56 sts):
K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
Cont in pat st until piece measures 21 (21½, 23)" from beg and armhole length measures 7 (7½, 8)". End WS completed.

Shoulder Shaping
BO 13 (14, 15) sts.
Work across rem of row.
BO 13 (14, 15) sts.
Work across rem sts.
Place rem 22 (24, 26) sts on holder for back of neck.

Front
Work same as Back until piece measures 19 (19½, 20½)" from beg and armhole length measures 5 (5½, 5½)". End WS completed.
Keeping to pat, work 17 (18, 20) sts. Place rem sts on holder.
Work one row even.
Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 4 (4, 5) times as follows:
K across to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
Cont until piece measures same as Back.
Work shoulder shaping at shoulder edge same as Back.
Leave center 14 (16, 16) sts on holder for front of neck.
Place rem 17 (18, 20) sts on needle.
RS: Attach yarn at neck edge and work across 17 (18, 20) sts in pat.
Work one row even.
Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 4 (4, 5) times as follows:
K1, SSK, k across rem sts
Cont until piece measures same as Back.
Work shoulder shaping at shoulder edge same as Back.

Collar
Note: If desired, seam both shoulders and work collar on circular needles instead.

Seam right shoulder.
With RS facing, beg at left neck edge, pick up 11 (11, 13) sts, k 14 (16, 16) sts from front neck holder, pick up 11 (11, 13) sts along right neck edge, k 22 (24, 26) sts from back neck holder.
Work in St st 2". BO.

Finishing
Sew collar seam so seam will be on WS when rolled.
Seam left shoulder.
Work one round of single crochet around armholes.
Seam sides; seam bottom 1½" so seam will be on WS when rolled.
Weave in ends on WS.
